Law students who spent the past summer working as associates at some of the nation's largest firms went into their jobs knowing the negative reputation that life at such firms can have. They ended the season believing that reputation isn't deserved—at least not where they worked.

Saying the matter was moot, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Thursday dismissed a constitutional challenge by the Log Cabin Republicans and their attorney, White & Case partner Daniel Woods, to the recently repealed ban on gay men and women serving openly in the military.
