A recent New York Times piece examines growing dissatisfaction with the American Bar Association's accreditation process, which critics say forces law schools to charge students more each year. Not so, writes Matt Leichter. ABA accreditation standards and U.S. News & World Report rankings have an effect on tuition, but law schools, especially those that are unattached to universities, can be cheaper. A retailer's belief that a security-camera recording will impeach a slip-and-fall plaintiff's testimony is not grounds to delay its production in discovery, a federal judge held last week, rejecting Walmart's request to withhold the evidence until the plaintiff's deposition.
Lack of Parental Consent Can't Bar Judicial-Sanctioned Abortion	Top
A Pennsylvania court cannot deny judicial authorization to a minor for an abortion purely because the minor did not receive parental consent for the abortion, the state Supreme Court has ruled, vacating a lower court's denial of an application for "judicial bypass."
Ireland's A&L Goodbody Opens Office in Silicon Valley	Top
A&L Goodbody, an Irish law firm that helps U.S. companies reduce their U.S. tax liabilities by shifting profits to the Emerald Isle, is setting up shop in Palo Alto, Calif.
