| Here are today's three burning legal questions, along with the answers provided by the blogosphere. 1) Question: I am incarcerated in a prison, but what gives the state the right to call me an "inmate?" The word "inmate" wrongly implies that I am "locked up for the purpose of mating with other men," and that's absolutely not the case! Can I sue the state over this? Answer: You can, but please consider that according to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word you dislike "derives from 'inn-mate,' or 'one who occupies a dwelling [e.g. an inn] along with others,' not 'one who goes to an inn in order to mate.'"
