Friday's Three Burning Legal Questions
Here are today's three burning legal questions, along with the answers provided by the blogosphere. 1) Question: We have been preparing for years to prosecute a huge criminal trial against a celebrity athlete. The trial starts this week and the judge recently issued an order regarding what evidence is admissible. Is this order something we need to actually comply with or is it merely advisory? Answer: You must comply with it or face a mistrial. That's why it is called an "order." (Bloomberg, Clemens Mistrial Declared on Barred Evidence) 2) Question: I saw your post on Wednesday that the governor's chef and housekeeper have been deemed "essential" employees in the Minnesota budget debate. I can live with that, but what is this I hear that my beer supply may be affected? That I cannot live with. Answer: Well, then, call your state representative because to sell beer in Minnesota, a company must renew its registration every three years. MillerCoors' registration came up for renewal in mid-June, but wasn't finalized before the state government shut down on July 1. So soon you won't have any Miller or Coors products, and the same will be true for Anheuser-Busch products if the shutdown...
