Coal Mine Safety and Health District Offices have primary responsibility for enforcement of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (Mine Act) and its implementing regulations contained in Title 30, Code of Federal Regulations (30 CFR). The District Offices are responsible for regular inspection activities, the approval of plans for ventilation and dust control, roof control, and impoundments, and for training.
