Economic Assistants are paid this hourly rate depending on the number of hours worked. This position is a permanent part-time position. Some weekend or evening hours will be required. The weekly hours of work vary, but are expected to average 16-32 hours per week. The average weekly and/or total hours may increase or decrease . This is not a job opportunity for a person that needs full-time employment or whom cannot be available for work when it is required, including a mix of day, evening and weekend hours. This position will not lead to a full-time position. This position has promotion potential to GS-07. Promotion Potential: There is no obligation to provide future promotions to you if you are selected. Future promotions are dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and supervisory approval. The selectee will be placed on a telework agreement, with a local reporting office to be identified in the telework agreement. The selectee will be required to travel throughout the counties of Island, King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, and Thurston, WA area to perform data collection. This position is located in the Department of Labor (DOL), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) District Office in Morgantown, WV. Coal Mine Safety and Health District Offices have primary responsibility for enforcement of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (Mine Act) and its implementing regulations contained in Title 30, Code of Federal Regulations (30 CFR). The District Offices are responsible for regular inspection activities, the approval of plans for ventilation and dust control, roof control, and impoundments, and for training. The Mine Safety and Health Assistant (OA) will provide program and administrative support, as well as liaison duties in direct support of the supervisor and a cadre of Mine Safety and Health Inspectors. Due to the nature of the work performed, the supervisor and inspectors are required to be out of the office for extended periods of time, necessitating that the applicant work independently to ensure the continued efficiency and effectiveness of the function of this office. - This position is at the full promotion potential. - This position is inside the bargaining unit. - Additional selections may be made from this announcement.
