Appellate Lawyer of the Week: The 411 on 202 Top
Two anonymous bloggers will stay anonymous — for the time being — because of a Houston lawyer's appellate work before the Texas Supreme Court. The lawyer says he geared up for a First Amendment showdown at the high court over whether two corporations that own The Southeast Texas Political Review could discover the identities of his two clients in a pre-suit deposition. But, as it turns out, hedidn't have to go that far: He just had to convince the high court to force a trial court to stick to a procedural law, which he did.
 
Getting Hooked on Civics Worked Out Well for Judge Top
It has been said that if someone likes his position in life, he should thank a teacher who showed him the way. Bobby Lockhart says that, too, because if it weren't for his high school civics instructor, he never would have taken an interest in government and become a judge. Now he's judge of the 102nd District Court.
