The Software Quality Assurance Engineer II is a mid-level position in which the engineer is primarily responsible for planning, creating and executing manual and automated software test activities as a member of an agile software development team. Employees in this position must understand the Software Development Life Cycle and develop an understanding of current products and technology in order to design and implement quality solutions to meet business needs in an agile team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Work closely with business analysts, software engineers, and product owner as part of a highly effective agile development team
o Analyze and dissect system requirements and technical specifications to ensure testability
o Define test methods and create test plans for new or updated software projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions
o Select an appropriate testing approach/strategy and effectively communicates approach to project team
o Run both manual and automated test plans to find bugs, defects and regressions in product functionality
o Design, develop and maintain test automation systems, tools, and scripts
o Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, browsers, or network environments
o Document software defects and report defects to software engineers
o Follow processes or procedures outlined for capturing data necessary for metrics reporting. Determine appropriate metrics that enable the team to understand and continuously improve their processes, techniques and technologies from a quality perspective
o Assist in the management, maintenance and monitoring of test environments
o Write and execute load and performance test cases and scripts
o Provide regular on-time completion of tasks, efficiency in the completion of work, and the ability to easily identify all outstanding work and the status of each work item
o Work in a continual test mode in our Agile-based development process and collaborate effectively with team's Product Owner and Scrum Master on issues and conflicts that impact time, cost, scope, quality, and risk
o Participate in all Agile ceremonies including Sprint Review, Product Backlog Grooming, Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective
o Assist on team efforts in facilitating releases to environments, assist with validation of environments post-deployments, and represent QA in change control meetings
o Execute dynamic web application vulnerability scans to ensure application code adheres to security standards
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, BCIS or related fields
• 4-5 years of experience in software application development or quality assurance, with hands-on exposure to design, coding and testing. Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications: • • Knows and understands complexities of networks, operating systems, browsers, and databases • Has basic understanding of relational database, stored procedures, database functions and SQL • Has basic understanding of web technology, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, file types. Ability to understand web protocols and web services. Basic ability to create web tests within Microsoft Visual Studio preferred. • Has basic programming experience in one of the following languages: C++/JAVA/C#.NET, with preferable in C#.NET • Has basic experience with the Selenium automated testing framework, preferably with C# and has created and maintained automated Selenium tests. * Expierence with TFS and Visual Studio preferred. • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a wide variety of personalities • Effectively facilitates sessions, ensuring success through preparedness and coordination • Has ability to mentor and can verify that learners have acquired information that has been imparted to them including demonstration of new skills or knowledge • Fosters a collaborative working environment, developing trust amongst team members • Ability to present a positive and effective professional image in all settings • Effective time management and organizational skills • The desire to be part of, and to contribute to, a team environment • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical addressees • Exceptionally self-motivated and directed • Embraces change and adaptation (positive change agent) • Collaboration and building of effective relationships (building trust) • Clear, transparent and frequent communication
