Jones Day Leads the Pack in U.S.-Based Attorneys	Top
With 3,738 lawyers in 60 offices, Baker & McKenzie once again topped the NLJ 250 -- The National Law Journal's list of the largest 250 U.S.-based firms by attorney headcount. But when only U.S.-based lawyers are counted, that firm drops far down the list, and Jones Day moves to the top.
New Hires by U.S. Attorney Bring Northern Calif. Office to Record Staffing Level	Top
Eight freshly minted federal prosecutors tapped by U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag for the Northern District of California began their new jobs on Monday. In all, Haag has added 10 prosecutors to her ranks so far, bringing the office total to 125 -- the most the office has seen, a spokesman said.
Becker & Poliakoff Opens Office in Washington, D.C.	Top
Florida-based Becker & Poliakoff is marching toward becoming a national law firm, opening an office in Washington, D.C., with two former congressional staffers as non-lawyer lobbyists: Omar Franco will be managing director and Clarence L. Williams will run the office.
Midsize Pa. Firms Making Few Changes to Associate Hiring	Top
Although large Pennsylvania firms have recently reported increased associate hiring, midsize firms say they aren't ramping up hiring because, frankly, they never had to ramp it down, having avoided most of the drastic changes that many large firms were forced to make in recent years.
SJ Berwin to Switch to Merit-Based Pay for Associates	Top
U.K.-based SJ Berwin has become the latest firm to introduce merit-based pay for its associates, with the new model set to go into effect on May 1. The firm said the change was motivated in part by a desre to better reflect the modified lockstep it uses for partner remuneration.
Lawyer Who Exposed Self to Teenager Gets 24-Month License Suspension	Top
The Supreme Court of Georgia on Tuesday suspended for 24 months the law license of Robbie M. Levin, who in 2010 pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors related to his sending webcam images of himself masturbating to a 16-year-old girl. Levin says he believes the court "wanted to make an example of me."
