'Unseemly Process' to Follow Announcement of N.Y. State Court Job Cuts	Top
The next round of layoffs in New York's court system will touch off a scramble in which senior employees whose jobs are being cut will claim the positions of less-experienced ones. There could be a domino-like effect in which one employee bumps another who, in turn, bumps a third, Chief Administrative Judge Ann Pfau says.
Ex-Yoss CEO Lands at Genovese Joblove	Top
Alfredo Gonzalez, who briefly served as CEO of Yoss LLP before the law firm's collapse last month, has joined Miami firm Genovese Joblove & Battista as a partner. He is believed to be the last Yoss lawyer to land a job. Sources say 70 percent of the firm's staff have landed jobs.
Attorney-Penned Movie Features Mark Lanier Playing Trial Lawyer	Top
Mark Lanier plays a trial attorney in "Puncture," a new movie that is loosely based on one of his cases. The movie recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Written by attorney Paul Danziger, "Puncture" stars Chris Evans, who will be in "Captain America: The First Avenger" this summer.
McDonald Hopkins to Open Miami Office	Top
McDonald Hopkins is opening an office in Miami and has tapped Raquel "Rocky" Rodriguez, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's general counsel, to take charge. The firm is the third national law firm to open a Miami office in recent months, joining Gordon & Rees and DLA Piper.
Midsize Pa. Firms Making Few Changes to Associate Hiring	Top
Although large Pennsylvania firms have recently reported increased associate hiring, midsize firms say they aren't ramping up hiring because, frankly, they never had to ramp it down, having avoided most of the drastic changes that many large firms were forced to make in recent years.
SJ Berwin to Switch to Merit-Based Pay for Associates	Top
U.K.-based SJ Berwin has become the latest firm to introduce merit-based pay for its associates, with the new model set to go into effect on May 1. The firm said the change was motivated in part by a desre to better reflect the modified lockstep it uses for partner remuneration.
Lawyer Who Exposed Self to Teenager Gets 24-Month License Suspension	Top
The Supreme Court of Georgia on Tuesday suspended for 24 months the law license of Robbie M. Levin, who in 2010 pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors related to his sending webcam images of himself masturbating to a 16-year-old girl. Levin says he believes the court "wanted to make an example of me."
