Am Law 100 Firms Flocking to Hong Kong	Top
Forty-six of the law firms ranked in this year's Am Law 100 have an office in Hong Kong, making it the No. 1 destination for expansion in Asia by U.S. firms. As an overseas location for Am Law 100 firms, Hong Kong is second only to London, which hosts 75 of them.
Allen & Overy Freezes Associate Salary Rates	Top
Allen & Overy has opted not to increase its associate pay levels for the 2011-12 financial year. The firm said that the decision was based on a "flat trading year" in the U.K. market in 2010-11. Under the unchanged salary levels, associate salaries will range from 61,000 pounds to 94,000 pounds.
Can Law Firm Partners Spare 20 Hours of Billables?	Top
Funding for the Legal Services Corp. has been secured for this budgetary year, but it will certainly be targeted again. Aric Press, ALM's editor in chief, asks if it's time for law firm partners to provide more concerted aid to the LSC and other worthy programs -- in tithes equivalent to 20 billable hours per person.
La Verne Law School on the Brink of Losing ABA Provisional Accreditation	Top
The University of La Verne College of Law could lose its provisional accreditation from the ABA, based on notice from the ABA's accreditation committee. Law school administrators have not yet been told why, but it likely has to do with the school's bar passage rate, said Dean Allen Easley.
O'Melveny Loses 7 N.Y. Partners to Paul Weiss, 2 to Weil Gotshal	Top
Seven O'Melveny partners, including the co-chair of its corporate finance/capital markets practice and its tax practice head, will be joining Paul Weiss. Top private equity adviser Harvey Eisenberg and M&A partner Douglas Ryder are leaving O'Melveny for Weil.
New Boutiques Flourishing With Help From Patent Trolls	Top
Newly opened small IP litigation boutiques are finding a niche in a legal marketplace flooded with patent infringement suits brought by nonpracticing entities, more commonly known as patent trolls. A few firms both represent NPEs and defend against NPE lawsuits, but most firms pick a side.
